Formed in 2007 in Sydney, Australia, Empire of the Sun is an electronic music duo that is currently signed to Capitol Records. The duo consists of Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore, who specialize in a variety of musical genres such as electronic rock, synth-pop, new wave, dance-rock, electronica, and many more. Empire of the Sun has cultivated a large group of very loyal fans and followers including over 1 million likes on their Facebook page. Their music videos have been viewed millions of times online, including the video for the hit song “Walking on a Dream” which has individually racked up over 58 million views on YouTube. In January of 2017 it was announced that they were one of the acts chosen to perform at the very popular and massive music festival Coachella 2017 in Southern California.Since first breaking out onto the music scene in 2007, Empire of the Sun has released 3 full length studio albums which are adored by fans and music critics alike. Their debut album Walking on A Dream (2008) reached #6 on the Australian Albums Chart, their second album Ice on the Dune (2013) reached #3 on the Australian Albums Chart, and their latest album Two Vines (2016) reached #7 on the Australian Albums Chart. They were nominated for 6 ARIA Awards in 2009, including Album of the Year, Single of the Year, and Best Group, then went on to win 5 of the awards. It seems that the sky is the limit for the success of Empire of the Sun, as their popularity and fan base continue to rapidly grow larger by the day.
