Originally formed in 2005 in London, England, The xx is an English pop band that is currently signed to Young Turks. The band consists of members Romy Madley Croft (vocals, guitar), Oliver Sim (vocals, bass), and Jamie Smith (production, beats). They specialize in a vast variety of musical genres such as indie pop, electronic, dream pop, and indie electronic. The xx has cultivated a large group of very loyal fans and followers, including over 4 million likes on their Facebook page. Their music videos have been viewed millions of times online, such as the video for the hit song “Crystalised” which has racked up over 50 million views on YouTube. In January of 2017 it was announced that were one of the acts chosen to perform at the very popular and massive music festival Coachella 2017 in Southern California.The xx first broke out onto the music scene in 2009, after the release of their debut album “xx”. The album garnered very much success as it reached #1 on the British Indie Albums Chart and Irish Independent Albums Chart, #4 on the Scottish Albums Chart, and #9 on the American Independent Albums Chart and Belgian Albums Chart. Their second album titled “Coexist” catapulted The xx into superstardom, as it reached #1 on the American Alternative, American Independent, Belgian, British, British Indie, Irish Independent, New Zealand, Portuguese, and Swiss Album Charts, while it peaked at #5 on the Billboard Hot 200. It seems that the sky is the limit for the success of The xx, as their popularity and fan base continue to rapidly grow exponentially larger by the day.
