Born November 7th 1994 in Las Vegas, Nevada, Shamir Bailey better known by his stage name Shamir is an American singer, songwriter, musician, and performer that is currently signed to XL Recordings. He specializes in a vast variety of musical genres such as disco, hip house, pop, R&B, dance, and electronic, as his one of a kind vocal style has been described as “Amazingly unclassifiable”. He has cultivated a large group of very loyal fans and followers including over 40 thousand likes on his Facebook page, over 25 thousand followers on his Instagram page, over 20 thousand followers on his Twitter feed, and his music videos have been viewed millions of times online, including the video for his single “On The Regular” which has individually racked up over 3 million views on YouTube. In January of 2016 it was announced that he was one of the acts chosen to perform at the very popular and massive music festival Coachella 2016 in Southern California.Since first breaking out on to the music scene in 2014, Shamir has released one extended play and one full length studio album. His debut studio album titled “Ratchet” was very highly appreciated amongst fans and critics alike, and gained him much recognition throughout the industry. 2016 should be a tremendous year for the young rising star, as he will be performing as part of the Troye Sivan – Blue Neighbourhood Tour, and many other high profile performances. It seems that the sky is the limit for the blossoming career of the Nevada native, as his popularity and fan base continue to grow exponentially larger by the day. Shamir is an artist to watch out for in the very near future, as he has very quickly catapulted himself into the forefront and the spotlight of the music industry.
