Shawn Peter Raul Mendes is a songwriter and singer originating from Canada. He made his claim to fame with his self titled album, That Sean Mendez EP and his debut single “Life of the Party”. He has gained mainstream success as a singer-songwriter and has also been touring all over the world. Mendes was born in Toronto, Canada and he was raised in Pekin, Canada.He started posting cover videos, on the popular social network Vine in 2013. He he gained over 1 million views and followers in a couple of months. His videos spread like wildfire through YouTube, Instagram, and Twitter. Making him well-known for his six-second snippets of covers, of many popular songs. He now has over 10 million YouTube views and more than 1.8 million Vine followers. Mendes is the third biggest musician on Vine. Passing up Justin Bieber, Wiz Kalifa, and Mac Miller. He is becoming one of the most talked about young artists in music.
Shawn was discovered by his current manager Andrew Gertier online in 2014. He was later signed to Island Records. He released his debut single “Life of the Party” in 2014. Mendes is the youngest artist Today to hit Top 25 on Billboard Hot 100. Before he signed to Island Records, he toured as a member of the MagCon Tour. He was alongside other social media sensations such as Nash Greer, Cameron Dallas, Jack and Jack, and more. He also was on the nationwide tour with Austin Mahone as an opening act and releases his debut major label EP in July. It reached No. 24 on Billboard 100. In 2014 he won the Teen Choice Award for WebStar in Music. He also won the Best Cover of A Great Big World’s “Say Something”. Billboard Magazine has named him “the first Vine sensation”
