Dave Hollister Talent Bio:
Dave Hollister is a singer and songwriter originating from Chicago, Illinois. Growing up his father was a minister, so he was surrounded by gospel music and the teaching of the Bible. He is also the cousin of hit R&B singers K-Ci and JoJo, Haley, Calvin Richardson and Fantasia. It was obvious that the he began a career in music. His first taste of spotlight was his feature on hip-hop legend 2Pac's hit "Brenda's Got A Baby" and the original version of "Don't You Trust Me". His next claims to fame was when he signed to Teddy Riley's R&B group Blackstreet in 1994. He worked with the group on their first album. He then left to pursue a solo career.Hollister later signed to DreamWorks Records and began working on his first solo album. In 1999, he released 'Ghetto Hymns' which featured his hit single "My Favorite Girl". Hollister's follow-up album titled 'Chicago '85...The Movie' was released in 2000 with "One Woman Man" hitting number eight on the R&B charts. Also in 2000, the singer collaborated on "He Say, She Say" with Keith Sweat and T-Boz of TLC and it was written and produced by Andrew Lane. With his third album, He relocated to Motown Records with 'Things In the Game Done Changed' and it was released in 2002. Hollister returned to DreamWorks Records where he released 'Real Talk' in 2003.
As of today Holloster is an established gospel star and a powerful preacher. His second all-gospel project 'Witness Protection' rocketed into Billboard's Top Gospel Albums chart at number two. His tenor voice on 'Witness Protection' is described to be as smooth and subtle as ever and whether it's a ballad like "I'm Here" where Dave offers himself to be moulded as the Lord sees fit or the powerfully funky "More Of You" where he rejects the carnal pleasures of the old him. The lyrics are relatable and demonstrate his transition in life.
