Ratatat Talent Bio:
A rock that meets electronica Brooklyn based duo, Ratatat founded in 2001. The band formerly known as Cherry consists of master producer Evan Mast and guitarist Mike Stroud. Even though now the pair make sure their material is top priority, both members stayed equally busy with separate projects.Evan being the mastermind behind the group started out by developing the sounds of E*vax, a group Mast started with his brother. While Evan played in the band with this brother, Stroud played guitar on tour with Ben Kweller and Dashboard Confessional. Despite their busy schedules they worked together in a unique yet effective way. While on tour with Dashboard Confessional Stroud awaited the beats and sounds developed by Mast, so that he may add his finishing touches to the sound. The pair continued to make music and things started to really come together for them in 2013. In a span of 3 months they played their first gig, changed their name to Ratatat and issued their first single. The first single “Seventeen Years” released on Audio Dregs, Masts’ brother record label and had a small run of about 1,100 copies. Things started to really pick up and Ratatat signed to XL Records; their self-titled debut album was released in Spring 2004. The album was entirely instrumental except for a few vocal excerpts at the beginning and end of select tracks.
Ratatat stays busy in between times by remixing tracks by other artists, most notably on their first release ‘Ratatat Remixes Mixtape 1.’ This mixtape attracted the attention of the credible Rolling Stone magazine. The pair also toured with bands such as The Killers, Daft Punk, Bjork, Interpol, Junior Boys, The Shins and The Faint.
In October of 2006 Ratatat became the first band to perform a show inside the Guggenheim Museum in New York. Following this concert they released another remix album ‘Ratatat Remixes Mixtape Vol. 2’, which featured remixes by Bun B, Biggie Smalls, Jay Z, Devin the dude, Kanye West, Juvenile, Ludacris, and T.I. ‘LP3’ was their third released album in 2008. Their fourth ‘LP4’ was released in 2010. Kid Cudi recently revealed that the duo would be working on this third album entitled ‘Indicud’. Click for Ratatat Event Booking.
