Clean Bandit Talent Bio:

Founded in 2009, Clean Bandit is a British electronic group from Cambridge, England. The group members are Jack Patterson, Luke Patterson, Grace Chatto and Milan Neil Amin-Smith. The meaning of the group name, “Clean bandit” derived from the Russian phrase (Chatto and Patterson lived in Russia for some time) compared to the English phrase, “complete bastard”. Patterson later responded to this comparison, saying the group’s title was rather more of an affectionate term similar to the English phrase “utter rascal”. Their music style has been described as “fusion”, a well-blended mixture of electronic and classical with a deep house element. The classical parts of their music include compositions from Mozart, Beethoven, and Dvorak. Some of their music is laced with humor that riles the crowds by engagement. Clean Bandit produces a very unique sound. In 2013, their single “Mozart’s House” released on Black Butter Records caught them a big break by charting in at number 17 on the United Kingdoms singles chart. By January of 2014 they scored first place that held over for four straight weeks on the UK’s singles chart with “Rather-Be.” In that same year they made a clean break in the US with that same single, charting in the Top Ten of Billboards list of hot 100’s with what is now popularly known as “Rather Be” featuring guest vocals of Jess Glynne. Clean bandit produces all of their own music while inviting guest artists to appear on their tracks. The group is far from ordinary, especially when it comes to their music videos. Chatto has stated “that the videos are integrated to the song workings as a whole and that the video concepts are conceived during the process of writing the music.” The majority of the songs showcase a double meaning or abstract interpretation with cultural references. For example the video for their song “Dust Clears” has a reference to the painting Henry Raeburn of The Skating Minister, portrayed by a man ice-skating. With such close direction of their videos, Chatto and Patterson formed their own production company, “Cleanfilm”, to make their own music videos as well as other artists’.
