Smokey Robinson Talent Bio:
Born February 19th 1940 in Detroit, Michigan, William Robinson Jr. better known by his stage name Smokey Robinson is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is known for both his successful solo career, as well as the founder/front man of the famed Motown vocal group The Miracles. He has been a force to be reckoned with in the industry for over 60 years, as he specializes in the musical genres of R&B, funk, soul, and pop. Robinson accompanies his unique singing voice on the guitar and piano, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987, as well as the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1989. Smokey has cultivated a large group of very loyal fans and followers over the years including over 100 thousand followers on his Twitter account, over 1 million likes on his Facebook page, and his music videos have been viewed millions of times online, such as his video for the hit song “Cruisin’” which has individually racked up over 5 million views on YouTube.Since first breaking out on to the music scene in 1955, Robinson has released a total of 23 full length solo studio albums, and 25 studio albums with The Miracles, which are adored by his fans and music critics alike. He has worked alongside and performed with some of the biggest artists in music history such as Marvin Gaye, The Supremes, Aretha Franklin, Rick James, The Temptations, Mary Wells, Joss Stone, and many more. He has received many awards for his work including a Society of Singers Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Heritage Award at the Soul Train Music Awards. It seems that the sky is the limit for his success, as he continues to perform for audiences everywhere.
