Penatonix Talent Bio:
Pentatonix which is PTX for short is an a capella group originating from Arlington, Texas formed in 2011. The group includes 5 vocalist; Avi Kaplan, Kirstie Maldonado, Scott Hoying, Kevin Olusola, and Mitch Grassi. They perform covers of current top songs, some in the form of medleys, and they also have recorded some original material.PTX won the third season of The Sing-Off on NBC in 2011 which earned them $200,000 and a recording contract with Sony Music. They formed their popular Youtube Channel which currently has 7.28 million subscribers and more than 785 million cumulative views. The PTX YouTube channel is to this day the 12th most subscribed to music channel and the 42nd most subscribed channel overall. Their current music video “Daft Punk” just reached over 112 million views. They were also nominated at the 57th Grammy Awards for best Arrangement, Instrumental or A cappella for “Daft Punk”
PTX music is described as pop music with some strong low bass vocals and a variety of vocal percussion in their own arrangement style. Their debut EP PTX, Volume 1 was released in 2012 and that same year they released PTXmas. In 2013 their third release PTX, Volume II debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard’s Independent Albums chart also reached No. 10 on Billboard 200. RCA records signed Penatonix and they released their fourth EP, PTX, Volume III in 2014 which hit No. 5 on Billboard’s Top 200. They also released two complete studio albums including, PTX Volumes I and II as well as their second holiday release, That’s Christmas to Me. It was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America and reached platinum in 2014.
