Nico and Vinz Talent Bio:
Nico and Vinz are a Norwegian singer/songwriter duo made up of Kahouly Nicolay “Nico” Sereba from Holmlia, Oslo and Vincent “Vinz” Dery from Lambertseter, Oslo. Formed in 2009, initially called “Envy”, the duo changed their name to “Nico and Vinz” in 2014 after the international success of their recognized single, “Am I Wrong”, and in addition a name change was suggested by Warner Bros. Records in the United States to avoid being confused with other groups with too similar of a name as “Envy”. Their music can be described as a blend of pop, reggae and soul. The music video for their debut hit, “Am I wrong” was filmed in Botswana and at the Victoria falls between Zambia and Zimbabwe. The video was geared to portray a side of Africa that was more positive rather than what is said about it in negative news stories and reports. The music video was released on YouTube on June 20, 2013 and has hit over eighty million views in a short amount of time. The group played on many Norwegian television shows and kept trying to aim for attracting the American Audience. They performed in 2013, at the Nobel Peace Prize concert in Oslo, Norway. They then went on to receiving The European Border Breakers Award (EBBA) at the Euro sonic festival, performed at the Spellemann Awards, took on a Scandinavian tour, and launched “Am I Wrong” internationally. When “Am I Wrong” made its American radio debut in 2014, it was the #1 most added record for the Top 40 list, a rarity in the first-week airplay for a new artist category. Being one of the most Shazamed songs internationally, “Am I Wrong” earned its #1 place on the Shazam Top 100 list and took fourth place on the Billboard Hot 100.
