Originally formed in Bath, England in 2007, The Heavy is a British indie rock band that is currently signed to Ninja Tune through Counter Records. They have a very unique sound as they specialize in a variety of musical genres such as indie rock, funk rock, blues rock, neo soul, and many more. The band consists of members Chris Ellul, Kelvin Swaby, Daniel Taylor, and Spencer Page. They Heavy has cultivated a large group of very loyal fans and followers including over 135 thousand likes on their Facebook page, over 15 thousand followers on their Twitter feed, over 10 thousand listeners on their SoundCloud account, and their music videos have been viewed millions of times online, including their video for the song “What Makes A Good Man” which has individually racked up over 5 million views on YouTube. In January of 2016 it was announced that they were one of the acts chosen to perform at the very popular and massive music festival Coachella 2016 in Southern California.Since first breaking out on to the music scene in 2007, The Heavy have released a total of 4 full length studio albums, and a long list of compilations and singles that are highly respected among fans and critics alike. Their song “How You Like Me Now” has been featured in a plethora of movies, television shows, video games, and commercials, and was also played over the loudspeakers at the McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago immediately after the election-clinching results came in for President Obama in 2012. They are a force to be reckoned with in the industry, as their popularity and fan base continue to rapidly grow larger by the day. They have become a staple in the indie rock industry, and it seems that the sky is the limit for the blossom career of The Heavy.
