Minus the Bear Talent Bio:
Minus the Bear is a indie rock band originating from Seattle, Washington. It was formed in 2001. The band consists of Jake Snider (vocals, guitar), Dave Knudson (guitar), Cory Murphy (bass), Alex Rose (synths, vocals) and Erin Tate (drums). Their sound has been described as "Pele-esque guitar-taps and electronics with sophisticated time signature composition. They have released five albums and four EPs. In 2006, Matt Bayles, keyboardist and producer for Minus the Bear, announced that he was leaving the band in order to focus all his time on his career as a producer. His last performance with the band was on January 28, 2006. He was replaced by Alex Rose, who formerly worked as a sound engineer on the band's second album titled Menos el Oso. In 2007 they released Interpretaciones del Oso. It was an album of remixed songs from their second album Menos el Oso, and I was released through Suicide Squeeze Records.The band's later released their third album, titled Planet of Ice and a exclusive iTunes bonus track titled "Cat Calls & Ill Means," a bonus CD containing two b-sides, "Electric Rainbow" and "Patiently Waiting," a demo version of "Ice Monster," and a remix by P.O.S. of the album's first single, "Knights," was released with the album's first edition. In 2008 the band recorded four tracks live on Daytrotter that were released for free if you signed up for a membership to the website. That same year, the band also released their acoustic EP, titled Acoustics, which contained an unreleased track, "Guns & Ammo," and acoustic renditions of six previously released tracks.
In 2012 they released their fifth album "Infinity Overhead". The first single from the album was titled "Lonely Gun". Later that year it was announced that Minus the Bear would be joining the Big Scary Monsters record label in the UK. "Infinity Overhead" . In 2013, Minus the Bear announced that they would release "Acoustics II", a ten track LP featuring 8 acoustic versions of old songs and two new tracks. An acoustic version of Hooray was given to everyone who preordered the album. In 2014 they released a compilation album titled Lost Loves. In 2015 their drummer Erin Tate left the band. They announced that they are also working on a follow up album for Infintiy Overhead.
