The group consists of members Diplo, Walshy Fire, and Jillionaire, and specializes in a vast variety of musical genres including reggae, electronic dance music, trap, reggae fusion, reggaeton, dancehall, and moombahton. They have had record deals with some of the biggest record companies in the music world such as Interscope Records, Downtown, Mad Decent, and Secretly Canadian. They have cultivated a large group of very loyal fans and followers including over 2.3 million likes on their Facebook page, over 3.8 million listeners on their SoundCloud account, over 950 thousand followers on their Instagram account, over 440 thousand followers on their Twitter feed, over 3 million subscribers to their YouTube channel, and their music videos have been viewed millions of times online, including their video for the song “Lean On” with DJ Snake featuring MO which has individually racked up an astonishing 1.1 billion views on YouTube. In January of 2016 it was announced that they were one of the acts chosen to perform at the very popular and massive music festival Coachella 2016 in Southern California.Since first breaking out on to the music scene in 2008, Major Lazer has released 3 full length studio albums, and have announced the release of their 4th.
