James Bay Talent Bio:

James Bay born in Hitchin, Hertfordshire is a 23 year old British singer-songwriter and guitarist. In 2013 he released The Dark Morning EP. In 2014 he released his EP Let It Go that debuted at the Top 10 iTunes album chart. The lead single “Let It Go” hit No. 62 in the UK charts in 2014. He also released his EP Hold Back the River in 2014.

Bay already gained a following performing at Communion’s monthly night at Notting Hill Arts Club in London. His motto is to make songs that make people feel something, and to move them. At the young age of 11 James had began an obsession with guitars. His father bought a old guitar from James’ uncle that was stored in a cupboard that he had only seen a few times in his life. He wanted to get a hold of it and once he did the sensation he felt was said to be out of this world. James had his father buy him a new guitar and tried to learn how to play with an instructional CD, till he best learned to play by ear. James started bands with his brothers and friends in his teenage years.

At age 18 Bay moved to Brighton where he initially planned to study fine art, but he decided to study music because it became more than a hobby. He started playing at open mic evenings five times a week at the small venues in town. He was noticed by his management company at his college’s showcase night. They reached out to the college prior asking when he was playing next and made it the next night to the showcase. Next move was to London where he made a name for himself. He opened for The Rolling Stones in Hyde Park in the summer of 2013. Also toured with ZZ Ward, Kodaline, Tom Odell, John Newman, and Beth Orton.

Bay performed a live show one evening in Kentish Town pub and a viewer was impressed by Bay’s performance he filmed a video and uploaded it to YouTube which scored him a deal with Republic Records.

He has performed on the Burberry runway show and has a Burberry Acoustic Session he recorded. The beginning of 2014 he toured with Hozier that sold out on Halloween night in Boston, performing with a painted skull on his face. In 2015 he won 2nd place at the BBC’s Sound of 2015 contest. Currently signed to Republic Records he released his studio album Chaos and the Charm. He won Critics’ Choice Award at the BRIT Awards in 2015 and has a pending nomination for Brand New for 2015 at the MTV Music Awards. Click for James Bay Event Booking.
