GoGo Penguin Talent Bio:
Originally formed in 2012 in Manchester, UK, GoGo Penguin is an electronica jazz band that is currently signed to Blue Note Records. The band consists of members Chris Illingworth (piano), Nick Blacka (double bass), and Rob Turner (drums). They have a very unique, one of a kind sound while they specialize in a vast variety of musical genres such as acoustic, jazz, rock, trip hop, electronica, and classical music, while their music has been described as hard hitting jazz meets electronica. They have cultivated a large group of loyal fans and followers which includes over 20 thousand likes on their Facebook page, over 5 thousand followers on their SoundCloud account, and their music videos have been viewed thousands of times online, including the video for the song “Garden Dog Barbecue Live Session” which has individually racked up over 125 thousand views on YouTube. In January of 2016 it was announced that they were one of the acts chosen to perform at the very popular and massive music festival Coachella 2016 in Southern California.GoGo Penguin operates as a complete unit, as there is no leader in the band. Their infectious piano melodies, thematic guitar riffs, booming powerful basslines, and scattered break beats, make up the very unique collaborative sound that their fans have come to love. The band cites some of their biggest influences from a wide range of music, anywhere from Massive Attack, Brian Eno, Squarepusher, Aphex Twins, to modern classical composers such as Debussy and Shostakovich. They have released 3 full length studio albums which have been appreciated amongst fans and critics alike. They are a band to watch out for in the very near future, as their popularity and fan base continue to rapidly grow exponentially larger by the day. It seems that the sky is the limit for the blossoming career of GoGo Penguin.
