Born January 10th 1956 in Vermillion, South Dakota, Shawn Colvin is an American singer, songwriter, and musician who is currently signed to her own label Nonesuch Records. She has been active in the music community for over 40 years, while she specializes in the musical genres of folk and adult contemporary. She accompanies her gripping vocals on the guitar, and has been a staple in the spotlight of the music business for the majority of her career. She has toured with, worked alongside, and collaborated with some very highly talented and respected artists over the years, such as Suzanne Vega, Buddy Miller, Alison Krauss, James Taylor, Shawn Mullins, Sting, Edwin McCain, and many more. Colvin has cultivated a large group of very loyal fans and followers over the years including over 60 thousand likes on her Facebook page, over 10 thousand followers on her Twitter account, and her music videos have been viewed millions of times online, including her video for the hit song “Sunny Came Home” which has individually racked up over 2 million views on YouTube.Since first breaking out on to the music scene in 1973, Colvin has released a total of 10 full length studio albums and 2 music DVDs which are adored by her fans and music critics alike. She has won a variety of awards and achievements for her work, including 3 Grammy Awards on 10 nominations. She has become a role model and an inspiration for many young aspiring artists, as her work ethic and charisma are something to be admired.
