Milky Chance Talent Bio:
Milky Chance is a German Folk duo including the talents of Clemens Rehbein and Phillip Dausch. Originating in Kassel, Germany this powerhouse duo reached No 1. on charts with their first single “Stolen Dance” from their debut album Sadnecessary. The song received over 90 million views on YouTube and it also won the award for best single at the 1Live Krone German Radio Awards.Phillips and Clemens met in the eleventh grade in an “Advanced Music Course”. Becoming best-friends, they started playing in a local band. Even after losing their drummer, they kept the band rolling. Recording in a studio they built in Clemens childhood home with just a computer, microphone, and an interface. Creating their own lane by just doing what they feel. These two made musical matrimony influenced by folk, reggae, jazz and electronic music bound to make you dance.
They only had two live shows before they decided to complete their album Sadnecessary. With no plan, just driving across Europe, their live shows became a hit, with sold out venues it turned into a 100+ dated European tour. Utilizing Facebook to post tour dates, Milky Chance found their way playing to a massive crowd of 7,000 people at Hamburg’s Dockville Festival.
Milky Chance’s released their debut album Sadnecessary in October of 2013. Peaking at No. 17 on the Billboard Top 200 and No. 14 in Germany, with singles “Stolen Dance” and “Down by the River”. Re-released as a single through their own Lichtdicht Records, “Down by the River” appeared in FIFA 15. A radio edit of “Stolen Dance” was released on two different versions of Stolen Dance EP where it went number one in Luxembourg. Sadnecessary was released in the United States in October 2014. Within a day it was named album of the week from SPIN and their first show in New York City at the Bowery Ballroom was sold out.
On October 22, 2014 Milky Chance made their television debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, were nominated for Best Band at 1Live Krone German Radio Awards, and that very same month received the award for European Border Breakers, and was nominated for Public Choice Award. They also won the award for Best International New Act in 2014 at the Los Premios 40 Principales Awards. In September 16, 2014 they were nominated as Best German Act at the MTV Music Awards.
