He was quickly catapulted into the spotlight in 2015 when he appeared on season 9 of NBC’s hit singing competition The Voice. He specializes in the genres of gospel, pop, and contemporary Christian, while he accompanies his voice by playing the piano and keytar. With every week that passed on The Voice, he began to gain a very large and loyal group of fans and followers including over 110 thousand likes on his Facebook page, over 93 thousand followers on his Instagram page, over 86 thousand followers on his Twitter account, and his performances on the voice have racked up multiple millions of views online, including his rendition of Cia’s “Chandelier”, which has been individually viewed over 22 million times on YouTube.Smith touched a lot of viewers on The Voice as his performances on the show made some noise on the music charts as 3 separate performances reached #1 on the US Christian single charts, while two of them reached the top 25 on the US single chart. After he won The Voice in December of 2015, an album was released called “The Voice: The Complete Season 9 Collection” featuring his performances, and the album reached #11 on the US album chart while selling over 48 thousand units nationwide. The young career of the 22 year old Kentucky is definitely one to watch out for in the future, as his popularity and fan base are continuously growing at an astronomical rate.
