Dan + Shay Talent Bio:
Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney comprise the musical duo “Dan + Shay.” Dan hails from Wexford, Pennsylvania while Shay grew up in rural Natural Dam, Arkansas. Dan started his music career working with bands “Bonaventure” and “Transition” while Shay was working on a solo career. Dan and Shay finally met in December of 2012 in the country music capital, Nashville, Tennessee. They immediately started writing together. Eventually releasing their first single “19 You + Me” to country radio stations. The song was highly regarded by country music news organization Taste of Country. In April of 2014 They released their first album together Where It All Began. This led them to back their roots where they preformed at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville once more. Nominated in the same year for a Country Music award for “Best Vocal Duo.” They even performed live on the daytime talk show “The Ellen Show” hosted by Ellen Degeneres. Dan + Shay where chosen to open for Hunter Hayes’ “We’re Not Invisible” tour, as well as opening for the famous country singer songwriter Blake Shelton on his “Ten Times Crazier” tour. After completing their tour with Blake, they did one final tour as an opening act, with Hunter Hayes again. After completing that, they decided to embark on a tour all their own. In 2015 they announced a North American tour titled “From The Ground Up” which was a complete success. In July 2017 they finally achieved their first number one chart topping song “How Not To” on the Country Airplay Chart. In 2018, they broke into the Billboard top 40 with their single “Tequila.” Off their their third album which was self tilted “Dan + Shay” which also included “Keeping Score” a Kelly Clarkson collaboration.
