Skylar Grey Talent Bio:
Born Holly Brook Hafermann, or better known as her performance name Skylar Grey, is an American singer/songwriter and talented musician from Wisconsin. As a child Grey professionally performed with her mother in a mother and daughter duo, that went by the name of Generations. Produced and engineered by Randy Green, they created three albums. Those albums were titled Dream Maker, Lift Me, and Millennial Child/Waiting for You. At the age of 15, Grey would sneak into bars and work with Jazz Musicians, Jeff Eckles, Tim Whalen and Leo Sidran, in her home town of Wisconsin. These late night jam sessions began to perfect her talent. In 2003, Grey moved to Los Angeles and recorded a demo under her first alias, Holly Brook. At the age of 18, Linkin Park guitarist, Brad Delson, advocated for her to be signed to the bands “Vanity Label/ Machine Shop Recordings.” In 2005 Grey co-wrote a plethora of single hits for other artists, which led to her gaining attention from the Industry. In that same year she was featured in American hip hop group Fort Minor’s songs. Fort Minors popular hit “Where’d You Go” that Grey was featured on became a top hit as soon as it was released. When the song was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), Greys career took off and running. She released her debut album that was titled, “Like Blood like Honey” in 2006, under Warner Bros. Records. The album peaked at number #35 on a billboards chart, and because of the great attention, Grey toured that year opening for various acts such as K.D. Lang to Duncan Sheik with many in between. Greys position in the Industry grew bigger when she decided to change her stage name from Holly Brook to Skylar Grey. Under her new alias and collaboration with producer, Alex Da Kid, she wrote “Love the Way You Lie”, which was given to infamous stars, Eminem and Rihanna. Their version was a worldwide sensation and Grey earned a Grammy Nomination for Song of the year. Her rise to stardom was followed with many other collaborated hits such as another song with Eminem and Grammy winning producer Dr. Dre titled, “I Need A Doctor” which she performed with them for the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards and 20th Annual Lollapalooza Festival. She was a part of various collaborations with grade A name artists like CeeLo Green, David Guetta Etc. and performed covers of artists such as Sean Diddy Combs, Cher and Daft Punk. She also appeared on many albums through written collaboration with artists such as Moby, Nicki Minaj and Kid Cudi. When asked about the background to her chosen stage name, Grey explained that she thought the name represented “the unknowns of life that people are afraid of, but not herself, that she dives into the unknown because that is where all of life’s possibilities come from.” Click for Skylar Grey Event Booking.Skylar Grey Booking Information:
