G.R.L. Talent Bio:
Lauren Bennett, Emmalyn Estrada, Natasha Slayton, and Paula van Oppen are the four members of the all-girl pop group known as G.R.L. They are an American group managed by Larry Rudolph and signed with Kemosabe and RCA records. Robin Antin, member of The Pussycat Dolls, formed the group in 2011 when she was holding auditions to replace some members of The Pussycat Dolls. Instead of replacing the members, Antin decided that the four girls would form their own group with a new name, G.R.L. In 2013, the group was formally announced by Antin and they released a promotional single titled “Vacation” which also appeared on the soundtrack for the movie The Smurfs 2. That year, the single reached charts in South Korea and the four began their first live performances together. News of a new album was also confirmed. In 2014, G.R.L. was featured on the 49th volume of Now That’s What I Call Music! with the song “Show me What You Got”. The group was featured on Pitbull’s track “Wild Wild Love”, followed by a spot opening for Zedd and Pitbull at the iTunes Festival at South By South West. Their debut single was titled “Ugly Heart” and was released in June of 2014, which reached Australian charts as well as charts in New Zealand. Following the single, their debut EP was released titled “G.R.L.” which had five songs including “Ugly Heart” and “Show Me What You Got”.The group appeared in music videos for the songs “Vacation”, “Wild Wild Love”, and “Ugly Heart” with directors Hannah Lux Davis and Chris Marrs Piliero. Lauren Bennett is also involved with other all-girl acts like the Paradiso Girls and The Pussycat Dolls and signed with Interscope Records and will.i.am Music Group. Emmalyn Estrada was originally a Canadian pop singer, dancer, and song-writer with a hit single titled “Get Down” that made it to Billboard’s Canadian Hot 100 chart. Paula van Oppen appeared on So You Think You Can Dance and the PCD burlesque show. Robin Antin continues to work with the group and the four are actively working on creating more music.
