Years & Years Talent Bio:
Years & Years is a British electronica band from London, UK. They are made up of keyboardist and front man Olly Alexander, synth player Emre Turkmen, and Mikey Goldsworthy on bass. They have a steady and loyal following, tallying almost 500 thousand likes on Facebook, and over 113 thousand SoundCloud followers. They have received many awards and recognition for their work including the BPI Critics Choice Award, MtvU Artist to Watch, BBC’s Sound of 2015, Mtv Best UK and Ireland Act, and many more. They are influenced by many amazing artists such as Radiohead, Diplo, Jai Paul, and Flying Lotus. Their music has been described as a mixture of electropop, synth pop, house, and electronica, while also combining R&B and ‘90s house elements.Years & Years was created in 2010 when Mikey Goldsworthy relocated from London to Australia. He met Emre Turkmen short after and after hearing Olly Alexander singing in the shower, Goldswothy asked him to be the vocalist. Originally a five piece band, they released their first single entitled “I Wish I Knew” in 2012.The fourth and fifth member left the band in early 2013, before Years & Years released their second single “Traps”, which was released under the French record label Kitsune Records.
It was Years & Years’ fifth and sixth singles that catapulted their career to the next level. “Desire” peaked at #22 UK singles chart in late 2014, and “King” reached #1 on the UK charts in 2015, and shortly after they announced the production of their debut album Communion. The album has had much success debuting at #1 on the UK Album Charts, the Ireland Album Charts, and the US Dance/Electronic Album Charts. It’s made noise all over the world reaching #5 on the Australian Charts, #2 on the Belgian Charts, #5 on the Swiss Charts, #4 on the Poland Charts and many more. Years & Years fans and followers continue to enjoy Communion, and are awaiting their next release.
