Velvet Revolver Talent Bio:
Velvet Revolver is an American rock band composed of rock veterans Slash, Duff McKagan, and Matt Sorum from Guns N’ Roses, Scott Weiland from Stone Temple Pilots, and Dave Kushner from Wasted Youth. The bands’ debut album was titled “Contraband” and included their hit single “Slither” that won them a Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance in 2005. The band got attention from major labels like Warner Bros., Chrysalis RCA, and Elektra, but they ended up signing with RCA Records. Their record “Contraband” was released in June of 2004. The album did well, sold four million copies worldwide, and went double platinum. The band went on a nineteen-month-long tour to support the hit album after it was released. They announced their second album in 2005 that would be titled “Libertad” with the help of producer Brendan O’Brien, the album was released in July of 2007 and reached number five on the Billboard 200 chart. The album gave the band a separate identity and got them out of the shadows of Guns N’ Roses and Stone Temple Pilots. Velvet Revolver toured throughout the United States and the United Kingdom throughout 2007 and 2008 in support of the album, but ultimately, the band’s singer Scott Weiland left the band. All the band members performed and collaborated with other groups and artists such as Macy Gray, but as far as the status of the band itself, that was always debatable due the absence of a reliable lead singer. The band auditioned other singers for the lead position in the group but differences of opinion as well as creative differences have kept the band from deciding on one singer. So the band currently remains in a sort of limbo, still creating music and working on side projects, but the status of the band still remains a mystery.
