Troy Ave Talent Bio:
Roland Collins best known as Troy Ave, is a rapper originating from the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City. His name comes from the street Troy Avenue, that was near his childhood home. In 2013, he released his first studio album, titled, New York City: The Album. The album debuted at number 47 on the US Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. He was named part of the 2014 XXL Freshmen Class, featuring some of the hottest up and coming rappers such as, Iggy Azalea, School Boy Q, Kirko Bangz, MGK, Macklemore, French Montana, Future and Kid Ink. With smart and heavy campaigning, consistent networking, and run ins with the occasional road blocks, Troy positioned himself as the next big thing in New York hip-hop. A performance on the main stage of Sunday’s Hot 97 Summer Jam concert only seemed to confirm his rise as a New York rapper.Ave has been buzzing in New York since 2006. Never apologetic, he raps what he lives with no gimmicks. The year of 2003 is where it all began. He heard 50 Cent’s first album and was motivated to pursue his rap career. Since then he’s dropped four mixtapes which he sold over 70,000 copies, right out the trunk of his car. He’s the first unsigned rapper out of New York to get bootlegged. His influences are other artists such as 50 Cent, Master P, Lil’ Flip, Young Jeezy and the late, great Notorious B.I.G.
He has released several independent projects titled “Major Without a Deal” through “Troy Ave is the Future” and “I’m In Traffick”, and his latest, Bricks In My Backpack”. In 2011, he founded his own label BSB Records. Labels such as Def Jam, Epic Records, Columbia and Capital Records have all put in bids to be the first to sign the 28 year old rapper.
