The 1975 Talent Bio:
The 1975 is an indie rock band that was formed in Manchester, England. The members of the band include Adam Hann who plays guitar, Matt Healy who is the lead vocals and plays the guitar, George Daniel who plays the drums and is the background vocals, and Ross MacDonald who plays the bass. The band is known for their debut self-titled album The 1975. The album debuted at No.1 on the UK album Charts in 2013. They also performed at the 2014 Coachella festival.Matthew Healy grew up in New Castle and Manchester England. He later met Adam Hann and George Daniel at Wilmslow High School, that was near Manchester, England. In 2004 as teenagers they began to play music. They decided to form a band when the local council worker organized several gigs just for teenagers. The band started performing covers till they eventually wrote a song. They later began covering punk songs in a local club. They later met George Daniel and the band was completed.
The 1975 has released 4 EPs. Their first EP was called Facedown. They released it in 2012 and it received the band’s first UK airplay on national radio. Their single “The City” was featured on a BBC Radio with Huw Stephens. Next they released their 2nd EP called Sex in 2012. Their 3rd EP was called Music for Cars in 2013. Their single “Chocolate” from this EP hit the 19th spot on the UK singles chart. They released their 4th EP called IV later in 2013 which featured a new version of their single “The City”. The band began to tour, supporting fellow band Muse on the second leg of their The 2nd Law World Tour. They also toured with The Neighbourhood in the US and they supported The Rolling Stones in 2013.
In September of 2013, they released their self-titled debut album that was co-produced by Mike Crossey. Their lead single “Sex” premiered on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio 1 show. They released the video later on YouTube. They toured the UK and have performed at the Freedom Festival and the iTunes Festival. In 2014, for the first time the band performed at Coachella.
