Teairra Mari Talent Bio:
Teairra Maria Thomas best known as Teairra Mari is a singer, songwriter, actress, model, dancer, and reality TV star on VH1’s hit reality series Love and Hip Hop Hollywood. She is mainly known for her hit single “Make Her Feel Good” that she released under Def Jam.Teairra was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. She attended Longfellow Elementary in Detroit. She was inspired to pursue music by her grandmother who was a back-up singer for Aretha Franklin. When she was 15, she began to record in her cousin’s basement. Eventually she was discovered by Big Mike, Ed K and Helluvah of Detroit’s K.I.S.S. Productions. With their guidance she spent every second in the studio and worked with hot producers and songwriters. She collaborated with artists such as Ray J, J-Kwon, Lola Damone, and Bee. When she turned 16 Big Mike felt that Mari was ready for the music industry and took her to label executive Candy Tookes, who introduced them to Daryl Simmons. Simmons shared her demo with Antonio “L.A.” Reid, the chairman of The Island Def Jam Music Group. When Reid heard her perform live, he offered her a deal on spot.
She began working with Jay Z and Brianna to create her hit single “Make Her Feel Good”, right along with hit producer Sean Garrett. It reached No. 35 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 9 on the R&B charts. He second singe “No Daddy” had commercial success on MTV. Her third single “Phone Booth” didn’t do so well due to no promotion. She was featured in music videos “Nasty Girl” by Biggie, “Feelin You” by 3LW, and “Show Me What You Got by Jay Z. She was also the leading lady in Sammie’s “You Should Be My Girl” and modeled for Roca Wear ad campaigns. Def Jam eventually dropped her as an artist due to not enough album sales.
In 2011 she signed to Division1 and released single “U Did That” feat 2 Chainz. She joined the cast of Love and Hip Hop Hollywood in 2014. She has a new single “Deserve” produced by her cast mate Yung Berg. It is dedicated to her former boyfriend Ray J. She left Rico Loves Division1 and is now a free agent.
