Formed in 2002 in Los Angeles, California, the Silversun Pickups is an American alternative rock band that is currently signed to New Machine Recordings. The band is currently made up of Brian Aubert (vocals, guitar), Chris Guanlo (drums), Nikki Monninger (bass, backing vocals), and Joe Lester (sound manipulation, samples, keyboards). They have a very diverse and unique sound as they specialize in a variety of musical genres such as alternative rock, indie rock, shoegaze, and dream pop. They have cultivated a large group of very loyal fans and followers including over 590 thousand likes on their Facebook page, over 70 thousand followers on their Twitter feed, over 20 thousand followers on their Instagram page, and their music videos have been viewed millions of times online, including the video for the song “Lazy Eye” which has individually racked up over 7.5 million views on YouTube. In January of 2016 it was announced that they were one of the acts chosen to perform at the very popular and massive music festival Coachella 2016 in Southern California.Since first coming on to the music scene, Silversun Pickups have released a total of four full length studio albums which have been very well received amongst fans and critics alike. Their debut album “Carnavas” reached #1 on the US Billboard Top Heatseekers Chart in 2007, while their second album “Swoon” released in 2009 reached #1 on the US Top Independent Album Chart and #7 on the US Billboard 200. Their latest album “Better Nature” reached #16 on the US Billboard 200 while also reaching #22 on the Australian Album Chart. They are a force to be reckoned with in the alternative rock world, as their popularity and fan base continue to grow rapidly larger by the day.
