Rae Sremmurd Talent Bio:

The American hip hop duo, Rae Sremmurd, is composed of Khalif “Swae Lee” Brown who was born on June 7th, 1995 and Aaquil “Slim Jimmy” Brown who was born on December 29th, 1993. The duo grew up in Tupelo, Mississippi, where life was rough for them, but they are mainly based out of Atlanta, Goergia now. The name “Rae Sremmurd” comes from “Ear Drummers” spelled backwards, and is the name of their local home label. They once were part of a musical trio that was named “Dem Outta State Boyz”, where they used social media such as YouTube and Reverbnation to try and catch the attention of the music world. It worked for them at the time, catching the attention of P-Nasty, who insisted the group come to Atlanta and dive deep into the music game. Mike Will Made It produce their first real track called “I Dip”, and a second track called “We”, but unfortunately neither of the song created much attention for them. The duo didn’t give up, though, and continued recording and practicing their music intensely. On May 14th, 2014, Rae Sremmurd released their first real single titled “No Flex Zone”. The single gained media attention after Nicki Minaj and Pusha T got their hands on it and created an official remix of the track. The song later became popular in the U.S. and climbed to number thirty six on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart. Their second single was released on September 17th, 2014 and was titled “No Type”, the single was moderately successful, rising to number seventeen on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart. They are currently associated with EarDrummers Entertainment as well as Interscope and they are very strictly categorized as hip hop. Rae Sremmurd hasn’t been around for long, but with the help of established artists like Nicki Minaj, Mike Will Made It, and Pusha T—there is sure to be more to come.
