Formed 2001 in New York, New York, LCD Soundsystem is an American rock group that is currently signed to DFA Records. They specialize in a variety of genres including electronica, dance-punk, electronic rock, and alternative dance music. The band is fronted by singer-songwriter James Murphy, who plays a vast range of instruments including vocals guitar, drums, bass, piano, effects keyboard, synthesizer, vocoder, omnichord, drum machine, and very many more. During live performances Murphy is joined by various talented musicians bringing a unique one of a kind approach to entertaining the audience. He has performed live with Nancy Whang, Tyler Pope, Matt Thornley, Pat Mahoney, Al Doyle, Gavin Russom, David Scot Stone, and very many more. The group has cultivated a large group of very loyal fans and followers including over 735 thousand likes on their Facebook page, over 150 thousand followers on their Twitter feed, and their music videos have been viewed millions of times online, including the video for the song “Drunk Girls” which has individually been viewed over 2.8 million times on YouTube. They have been nominated for a total of 3 Grammy Awards, 2 of them being for Best Electronic / Dance Album, once in 2006 and the other in 2008.LCD Soundsystem has released a total of 3 full length studio albums and have announced the release of their 4th, which is set to be released sometime in 2016. In January of 2016 they were announced as one of the headliners at the very popular music festival Coachella, while also performing on a tour of their own. They have become a household name in the music community, as their popularity and fan base continue to grow larger by the day. LCD Soundsystem is a group to watch in the very near future, as they have quickly catapulted themselves into the forefront of the industry.
