Hozier Talent Bio:
Andrew Hozier- Byrne was born on March 17th 1990 and is simply known as Hozier. He is an Irish musician, singer, and songwriter and grew up in Bray, County Wicklow with a musician father. He graduated from St. Gerard’s school in Bray in 2009 and began a degree in music at Trinity College in Dublin, where he became involved with the Trinity Orchestra, but dropped out in his first year to record demos for Universal Music . His career officially began with Universal Records, sparking the attention of everyone, most importantly: the right people. He toured with the musical group Anuna from 2008 to 2012 where he traveled to places like Norway and the Netherlands, and appeared as a soloist on their 2012 release of “Illumination” singing “La Chanson de Mardi Gras”. 2013 saw the release of his breakthrough EP single “Take Me to Church” which went viral on YouTube. The EP reached number one on the Irish iTunes singles chart and number two on the official chart on October 25th 2013. The track brought Hozier several tour dates and television appearances in the United States. His self-titled album, “Hozier” was released on September 19th, 2014. The self-titled album featured five singles including “Take Me to Church”, “Work Song”, and “From Eden”, which all received positive reviews from his earlier EPs. He gained a lot of recognition in the United States from his well-crafted album and early EPs, earning him a spot performing on the highly publicized Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2014, as well as a live performance on Saturday Night Live. Hozier is currently represented by Island Records as well as Columbia Records, and is included in genres such as indie-rock, soul, and blues. He has a wide array of musical talents, though his formal musical education was short-lived.
