Formed in 2013 in Washington D.C., Ex Hex is an American punk rock band that is currently signed to Merge Records. The all-female punk band is made up of members Mary Timony (vocals, guitar), Betsy Wright (bass), and Laura Harris (drums). They specialize in a variety of musical genres such as Indie rock, garage rock, punk rock, and alternative rock. The band’s singer Mary Timony has been a part of some successful projects such as Autoclave, Helium, and Wild Flag. The band has cultivated a large group of fans and followers including over 20 thousand likes on their Facebook page, over 10 thousand followers on their Twitter feed, over 10 thousand followers on their Instagram page, and their music videos have been viewed thousands of times online, including the video for their song “Waterfall” which has individually racked up over 190 thousand views on YouTube. In January of 2016 it was announced that they were one of the acts chosen to perform at the very popular and massive music festival Coachella 2016 in Southern California.Since first coming on to the music scene in 2013, Ex Hex has released 2 full length studio albums which have had much success amongst fans and critics alike. Their album titled “Rips” was released in 2014 and got rave reviews including a 5 star rating in The Guardian, 4 stars in All Music and Mojo, and an 84 out of 100 on Metacritic. They are a definite group on the rise and a force to be reckoned with in the years to come, as their popularity and fan base continue to grow exponentially larger by the day. It seems that the future is very bright for the members of Ex Hex, as they are on the pathway to becoming a household name in the punk rock world.
