Beck Talent Bio:
Beck David Campbell now Beck Hansen, but best known as Just Beck is a singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalists. His claim to fame was in the 1990s. He is known for his experimental style. He has 12 studio albums as well as, non single albums and a book of sheet music. Beck was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He developed his love for hip hop and folk music in his teens and began to do local shows at coffeehouses and clubs. He later moved to New York City in 1989 and became involved in anti-folk movement.He returned to his hometown in 1990s where he released his smash hit “Loser”. In 1994 he became a worldwide hit. In 1996 he released his album titled Odelay. He won various awards and had quite a few hit singles from that album. He went on to release Mutations in 1998, Midnite Vultures in 1999, Sea Change 2002, Guero in 2005, The Information in 2006, and Modern Guilt in 2008. In 2014 he released his album Morning Phase. It won a Grammy Award for Album of the year in 2015.
Beck’s musical style is said to be alternative and indie. He plays various instruments in his own music. He has also contributed to remixes for artists such as Bjork and David Bowie. He uses various musical elements including folk, psychedelia, electronic, country music, Latin music, hip hop funk, soul, blues, and many types of rock. He is also known for his style of sampling, using obscure films to get cuts of people talking, or other various sounds to create sound collage in the background of his music.
Beck’s most popular recordings are Odelay and Sea Change. Both albums were featured on Rolling Stones’ list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. Beck is married to actress Marissa Ribisi. They have two children. One daughter and one son.
